A welcome from Governors

Welcome

On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to extend a warm welcome to pupils, parents, carers, staff, and visitors.

We are proud to support a community where every learner is valued as an individual and where aspirations are high for all. The governing body share Fox Wood’s commitment to "Encouraging independence and personal fulfilment through communication, engagement, laughter and learning," we are committed to ensuring that pupils and students are provided with a happy, secure, and personalised learning environment rich in stimulation, challenge, and possibility.

The Role of the Governing Body

The Governing Body provides strategic leadership and accountability for the school and college. Our role is to work alongside senior leaders to ensure that every decision made supports the best possible outcomes for our learners.

As governors, we do not manage the day-to-day operation of the school. Instead, we provide oversight and assurance that the school remains focused on its vision and continues to meet the needs of its learners and wider community.

We are responsible for:

  • Setting the strategic vision, values, and direction of the school and college.
  • Supporting and challenging leaders to ensure the highest standards of education and care.
  • Holding the leadership team to account for educational performance, pupil progress, and overall school effectiveness.
  • Monitoring the quality of provision, safeguarding arrangements, and the wellbeing of pupils, students, and staff.
  • Promoting a culture of inclusion, opportunity, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring that resources and public funds are managed effectively and deliver value for money.
