Curriculum

At Fox Cubs, we follow the Statutory Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. We use rich, meaningful experiences designed to ignite curiosity, build confidence, and support every child to flourish. Our learning opportunities are carefully planned and sequenced to promote development across all seven areas of learning, creating a strong foundation for future success; these areas are:

  • Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED)
  • Communication & Language (C&L)
  • Physical Development (PD)
  • Literacy (L)
  • Maths (M)
  • Understanding the World (UTW)
  • Expressive Arts & Design (EAD)
The school day includes differentiated lessons relating to these areas, in which pupils are involved in tailored whole class, small group and individual activities. Activities are play based and after initial teaching input from staff, pupils are encouraged to lead their own learning using the wide variety of specialist resources we have available. Skilled early years staff support the pupils to get the most out of every learning activity.

In our Year 1 class we follow the Complex ASD curriculum which links to the Early Years approach and fosters a structured approach to learning whilst also allowing our pupils to the opportunities to learn through experiences.
